Neal Girard, began his career apprenticing under a master carpenter in 2004 and together they built multiple off grid, solar powered, straw bale homes. From the beginning Neal has been interested in being a part of bringing the built environment to the next generation and has focused on implementing sustainable, energy efficient building practices into his projects whenever possible. Before starting Hygge Haus Design Build in 2020, he spent about 5 years working for a nationally recognized energy efficiency consulting company in Colorado and did the energy modelling on over 1,000 new residential buildings. During his time at that company he learned all the ins and outs of achieving Energy Star, Net Zero, Indoor Air Plus, IECC and Passive house certifications.
